Care of hand-dyed yarn

To keep the colours fresh and stable, this hand-dyed yarn should be washed by hand in COLD water, with a minimal amount of detergent.

We strongly recommend a few drops of clear, unscented dish-washing liquid.
Fill a bucket or sink with cold water, add a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid, and drop the knitted item on top of the water. As soon as it sinks to the bottom, remove it and gently squeeze out the excess water, and/or roll in towel squeeze. Then rinse the same way in cold water, remove excess water and lay flat to dry.

All yarn is washed and rinsed with three different detergents before it's put in the shop, only yarn that rinses clear is available for sale.

That said, yarn that is a heavily saturated colour may bleed on initial washing, depending on water temperature, detergent used (both the type and the amount), and the individual chemistry of your water.

If in doubt and you're combining very dark/bright colours with very pale ones, please test a swatch of the yarns together before proceeding.

Alternating Skeins

For a more even result, we strongly recommend alternating skeins for larger projects. We use many different dye layering techniques - this means that even when yarn is dyed in the same batch, the colour alights in different ways. Each skein is an individual!

Custom Orders

We regularly do custom dye orders - for large batches, sold out colours, and colour matching, for example for mohair carry-along yarns. Please contact us if you'd like to discuss a custom order. Turnaround times vary between 2-8 weeks depending on other commitments. We only take payment for custom orders once the work is finished, and the yarn is ready to ship to you!

Refunds

We offer a refund on change of mind if the products are returned to us in pristine, as new for sale condition. We are not able to refund original shipping costs, or return shipping costs. Refunds will only be made when the goods arrive back with us and have been checked.
If goods are faulty or damaged, please get in touch so we can work with you to sort out a solution! Milling standards allow two joins per 100g of yarn, we are not able to consider this a refundable fault.
Refunds are not available on custom orders unless goods are damaged or faulty.
